March 2024 Studio News

Happy Spring to all of our young musicians and their fantastic families!

As many of you know we were back to lessons and group classes beginning Monday, January 8th and at our UUCB only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. On other days 1:1 lessons are occurring at the teacher’s home studio or in a couple rare cases, the student’s home.

On the March 2nd Spring Festival, our Springer Student Band received warm welcomes and hearty support from the Macedonia Missionary Baptist congregation and their A/V team. The sound equipment was incredible, the weather was gorgeous, and their food trucks provided tasty BBQ and fixings for all. (see photo)

STUDENT OF THE MONTH, MARCH: Electrifying Elijah, Baritenor, age 17

Eljah has been a SMS voice student since June of 2023 and always arrives ready to expand his skills. Elijah was an enthusiastic last-minute addition to our Springer Student Band and confidently led the group with vocals and guitar on a Darius Rucker cover called “Wagon Wheel.” As a homeschool student, Elijah is also an award-winning debater and a musical theater performer–having just last weekend earned SUPERIOR marks at ALL-STATE THESPIANS in Tampa, Florida on a group performance of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. Elijah can next be seen performing in MEAN GIRLS, Jr.  at the Henegar Center in the role of “Shane.” Congratulations Eiijah, we can’t wait to see your upcoming performances!!

STUDIO POLICY REMINDERS about SCHEDULING:

For non-illness absences, please give us advance notice of at least 2 days so that we can try to reschedule your lesson for earlier in the same week…or rebook the slot with another student.

Keep in mind, these viruses are nasty folks! If your child is sick, please do not bring him or her to the lesson! In this case, we will send the child home immediately and you will still be charged. Rescheduling protects your teacher and other students from germ exposure. Kindly cancel immediately and schedule a make-up lesson for the following week. In the case of suspected CoVid-19 or RSV exposure, when the child is pre-symptomatic, please notify the teacher and take the lesson via Skype or Facetime. If absences become excessive, we reserve the right to charge for last minute cancellations and no-shows–or to drop the student from the studio.
